Work with us
Do you have a passion for working with young people?
Do you have professional experience mentoring?
Are you free one day per week and would like to be paid to help transform a young person’s life?
Two things that make us different to other youth mentoring organisations and charities
Experience
We specifically recruit people with professional experience and training in adolescent mental health and wellbeing
Payment
We pay our professionals an hourly rate to mentor and counsel the young people with whom they work
The Iuventas Foundation provides weekly, 1:1, mentoring, coaching and mental health support to young people, delivered by qualified adolescent mentors, in areas of their life that they are finding challenging.
Mentoring provides a safe space in which to share problems, find solutions and set goals
Mentors work from an adolescent mentoring curriculum that includes all areas of life that a young person could need support and guidance in:
- Managing relationships (including those at home and with carers)
- Managing anxiety and stress
- Low motivation, procrastination
- Anger management
- Self-esteem and confidence
- Setting and working towards goals
- Planning for the future
Referrals come through the school's pastoral teams, in conjunction with the students, and regular contact is maintained with the whole team with regard to progress updates, and any relevant information that either party needs to know.
All of our mentors have extensive experience working with and supporting young people. They are often from teaching backgrounds with some coming from other backgrounds linked to working with young people, such as:
- Adolescent Coaching
- Youth Mentoring
- Social work
- Youth work
- Counselling and Psychotherapy
They have, or are working towards, a professional adolescent mentoring qualification. In addition, they go through an induction and training programme to help support them in delivering a high quality provision to the young people they see through the organisation.
All mentors will also go through a rigorous safer recruitment process and employment checks.
Our mentors complete a full application form with three references, an enhanced DBS check as well as other recruitment checks. They undergo safeguarding and PREVENT training, as well as having a safeguarding induction at the school when they start.
They are fully insured individually, as well as through the school's insurance policy, they keep detailed sessions notes and are in close contact with the school's pastoral care teams.
